After his wife was sentenced to 15 years in prison, Agradaa’s husband says, “It’s normal; the church will continue.”

After Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor, her husband, Pastor Eric Oduro Asiamah, made her first public remarks.
The Accra Circuit Court found Agradaa, the founder of Heaven Way Champion Ministries and a former traditional priestess, guilty of defrauding by false pretense and charlatanic advertising. The accusations were related to a contentious televised event where she promised to double the amount of money given to attendees, an act that some said caused them to lose money.
However, Pastor Asiamah asserted in a statement following the verdict that the sentencing stemmed from grievances raised by churchgoers after an all-night service three years prior. He claimed that the offertory received during that service was the source of the fraud accusations.
Pastor Asiamah strongly denied the fraud accusations, arguing that what occurred during the service was in line with normal church traditions.
What happened was a standard offertory, giving during church programmes is a common practice. Nothing about that night was out of the ordinary or deceptive.
Pastor Asiamah encouraged congregation members and supporters to stay steadfast and prayerful during this trying time, despite the legal setback. He assured the public that God’s plan is still in operation in their lives and characterized the experience as a test of faith.
”We believe that everything happens for a reason. This, too, is part of God’s divine plan. We ask all believers to continue praying with us”
