After a fraud conviction, EOCO takes action to close Agradaa’s church.

According to reports, Patricia Asiedua, also known as Evangelist Mama Pat or Agradaa, is the leader of the Heaven Way Champion International Church, and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is taking action to shut it down.

Concerned citizens and former members of the congregation filed numerous complaints alleging financial misconduct, church funds being embezzled, and fraudulent schemes masquerading as spiritual practices, which led to this decision. The New Republic claims that the mounting evidence of purported irregularities in Agradaa’s church’s operations is what spurred EOCO’s intervention.

 

The action takes place in the midst of Agradaa’s ongoing legal issues, the most recent of which was her conviction and subsequent 15-year prison sentence with hard labor. After a protracted legal battle that started with her arrest on October 9, 2022, she was found guilty on July 3, 2025, of charging her with fraud and charlatanic advertisement.

 

The charges were related to allegations that she ran a money-doubling scheme in her church, a scandal that made headlines across the country after a video of irate members of the congregation saying they had been duped appeared.
