Efia Odo starts a discussion about who in Ghana should be considered a celebrity.

Controversial Dr. Louisa Satekla, the wife of award-winning dancehall artist Stonebwoy, has been the target of criticism from Ghanaian actress Andrea Owusu, better known by her stage name Efia Odo, who says she is not worthy of the celebrity title.
Efia Odo said this in the most recent episode of the Glitch Africa studios podcast Rants, Bants, and Confessions (RBC). Her statements contribute to the ongoing discussion about Ghanaian celebrity status.
Due to the presence of TikTok influencers, internationally renowned model Nana Akua Addo declined to walk the red carpet at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), sparking the debate. Almed, the creator of TikTok, responded by criticizing mainstream celebrities for missing important events. Then, media personality Mona Gucci sparked even more controversy when she denounced TikTokers for thinking of themselves as celebrities deserving of sharing platforms with well-known people like Nana Akua Addo.
”Those who criticise influencers for gaining fame and recognition don’t apply the same energy to the wives of male celebrities. Once these women marry famous men, they’re suddenly labelled as celebrities, even when they’ve done nothing publicly to earn that status”
