Agya Koo, a veteran Kumawood actor, has firmly reacted to recent comments made by LilWin, a fellow actor and filmmaker, who minimized Agya Koo’s current significance in Ghana’s film industry.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, LilWin asserted that Agya Koo was “living on past glory,” implying that the renowned actor had turned to podcast hosting and funeral performances instead of continuing to work on mainstream motion pictures. Online, the remarks have generated a lot of discussion, with many people seeing them as disparaging Agya Koo’s legendary contribution to the construction of Kumawood.
Agya Koo responded to the allegations on the social media site X, which was formerly Twitter. Although he accepted that he had recently started playing in live bands, he denied that his career was in decline.
He penned,
”I’m proud to have inspired many actors and actresses, including you. I’ve transitioned to live band and I’m loving it. You’re also making music, and I’m proud to have inspired many actors and actresses, including you. Just that you make noise on beat like some Bantama ‘kwenkwen’ seller”
