For defamation, Empress Gifty’s team demands an apology and retraction from Agradaa.

In a formal letter, the attorneys for well-known Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty have demanded that controversial evangelist Nana Agradaa, also known as Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, issue a public apology and retractions.
The demand comes after Agradaa allegedly called Empress Gifty’s lawyer a “so-called lawyer” in remarks she made.
Patrick Tawiah-Amprofi of Tawiah-Amprofi & Associates signed the letter. It referenced a widely shared social media video in which Agradaa allegedly made fun of him following their initial court appearance by casting doubt on his legal qualifications and using “abusive language.”
‘Our reference to him as a ‘so-called lawyer’ is derogatory and defamatory to both his person and this law firm. We therefore demand that you retract and apologise to him using the same medium within seven days of receiving this letter.;;
The letter also threatened to start legal action if Agradaa did not comply with the demand within the allotted time.
This legal development comes after a previous court decision regarding Empress Gifty’s defamation lawsuit against Agradaa. Agradaa’s attempt to have the GH¢20 million case struck out was denied by the Tema High Court, which was presided over by Justice P. Baffoe-Bonnie, on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Agradaa was also fined GH¢6,000 by the court for causing excessive delays in proceedings by failing to have legal representation at the first hearing.
Agradaa accused Empress Gifty of immoral behavior during a livestream in May 2025, which is the basis for the defamation lawsuit. The gospel singer is requesting that all offensive material be taken down from social media, a permanent injunction to prevent future defamatory statements, and damages for libel and slander.
The date of the next court appearance is July 16, 2025.
