Jack Alolome claims that after earning GH¢20,000 for a short performance in 2016, he joined NDC.

Renowned Ghanaian gospel performer Jacob Kwaw, better known by his stage name Jack Alolome, has spoken candidly about the personal circumstances that caused him to defect from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The singer, who grew up in a home full of ardent NPP supporters, described how a bad experience with the party made him reevaluate his allegiance in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on June 23, 2025.

Alolome disclosed that at the request of NPP leader Sam Pyne, he once postponed his own planned performance in Breman Asikuma to support an NPP program at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

”There was an NPP programme at the Kumasi Sports Stadium, for which Sam Pyne asked me to perform. I had to stop my own programme at Breman Asikuma. We came and gave a great performance”

He claims that Lord Inusah introduced him and that he even composed a spontaneous campaign song for the occasion. However, nobody took accountability when it came time to pay.

When I called to make a payment, they directed me to another person. We never received payment.

Alolome claimed later that year that Kofi Buah, a member of parliament for the NDC, had asked him to play at a campaign rally. Even though he had to sing a cappella for five minutes due to technical issues, the gratitude he received was unforgettable.

They came to thank me for attending the event when I got back to my hotel. In 2016, I discovered that the amount of money they had left for me was GH¢20,000. This party was better, I told my family, so I put it on my bed, snapped a photo, and sent it to them.
