Agradaa responds when the court denies a motion to dismiss Empress Gifty’s GH¢20 million lawsuit.

Contentious After losing her ongoing defamation lawsuit against gospel singer Empress Gifty, Patricia Asiedu, a Ghanaian televangelist who is also known as Agradaa or Evangelist Mama Pat, has spoken out.

The court rejects Agradaa’s request.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the founder of Heaven Way Church made an appearance at the Tema High Court with her husband, Angel Asiamah, and a group of security guards. The court denied Agradaa’s legal team’s request to have the GH₵20 million defamation lawsuit against her by Empress Gifty dismissed during the proceedings.

Agradaa was fined GH₵6,000 by the court, which also dismissed the application, citing needless delays from her legal team.

In addition, Empress Gifty has filed a new lawsuit in response to Agradaa’s alleged remarks that the gospel singer was HIV positive. Gifty has called the statement defamatory.

Agradaa responded to the decision and shared her next plans with her followers in a TikTok livestream after the court hearing. As supporters applauded her, the televangelist was spotted leaving the court grounds with her spouse, looking cheerful and assured.

A new lawsuit has also been filed by Empress Gifty in response to Agradaa’s purported comments that the gospel singer had HIV. The statement has been deemed defamatory by Gifty.
