Juliet Ibrahim is elected as Ghana’s first President of Women in Film and Television.

A significant turning point for women in Ghana’s creative sector has been reached with the appointment of award-winning actress and producer Juliet Ibrahim as the first President of Women in Film & Television Ghana (WIFT Ghana). The announcement marks increasing advancements and female empowerment in digital, television, and film across Africa.

Juliet Ibrahim highlighted the role’s wider significance in a statement announcing her appointment, referring to it as a turning point for women in the creative industry.

”This milestone is not just a personal achievement, but a powerful moment for all women across Ghana’s and Africa’s film, TV, and digital media industries who continue to break barriers, amplify stories, and reshape narratives both in front of and behind the camera”,

With a focus on empowering women locally, WIFT Ghana has joined the global Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) network and is affiliated with WIFT Africa, strengthening ties between African creatives and their international counterparts.

With a focus on assisting young people, storytellers, and female innovators, Juliet Ibrahim has vowed as President to promote mentoring, teamwork, and worthwhile opportunities for women in the field.

Juliet’s most recent accomplishment comes after her recent successes in school and at work. She recently graduated from the University of Berkeley with a degree in marketing communications. To further establish her influence on global film platforms, she also joined the advisory boards of the Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival (BINFF) and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
