Tyler Perry is being sued for sexual assault and harassment by an actor from the television show “The Oval.”

A lawsuit filed by Derek Dixon, an actor who appeared in Tyler Perry’s long-running television show The Oval, has accused Perry of sexual assault. These allegations have been rejected by Perry’s aides, who have called them a “scam.”

Dixon says he and Perry first met at an event in 2019, according to court documents that TMZ was able to obtain. According to Dixon, Tyler selected him from the crowd and asked for his phone number, implying that he could use him. After that, Perry gave Dixon a small part in two Ruthless episodes.

Dixon claims that Perry invited him to his Atlanta home in January 2020.

In an attempt to build a friendship that might result in more acting opportunities, Dixon accepted the invitation.

Dixon’s career progressed significantly when he was cast as Dale in The Oval shortly after. Dixon claims that Perry started sending him sexually suggestive texts at this time, though. These allegedly included Perry’s admission that he has sex with men and questions about Dixon’s sexual preferences. Dixon adds that his character Dale was originally intended to be a gay, homeless, and hopeless shopkeeper who turned to sleeping with other characters in order to make ends meet. Dixon asserts that this reflected precisely what Perry had stated he was looking for in a sexual partner in real life: someone who would be devoted to him and reliant on him.

Dixon claims that he was afraid that rejecting Perry outright would endanger his career. Rather, he says he told Perry that he was just not
